We have plenty of photos from Cuba which we'll get round to uploading soon, but today i thought we should reflect on one of the most enchanting places we visited during our stay. Plaza de la Catedral (Cathedral Square) was described by our guide book as one of the most romantic settings on the planet and believe me it lived up to such a tall recomendation.
We spent the evening on the balcony of El Patio restaurant overlooking the most authentic and well preserved squares in all of Havana. The 18th Century Cathedral de San Cristobal de la Habana dominates the square, in front of which a folk band serenaded diners while a chaplinesque old man and his lady friend tipped the whole experience into something almost otherworldly with their dancing. On the opposite side from us is a building dating back to 1720, now the Museo de Arte Colonial. In case you're wondering, that's a statue leaning against the pillar and not some creepy guy dressed all in leather as someone in the honeymoon party mistook it for....bless...;-)b
