Welcome

Hi and welcome to our online wedding album. Over the next while we hope to upload plenty of pictures, words and music from the big day and from our honeymoon. We wanted to do something that we can share with all of our friends and family which hopefully in some small way will help to express our gratitude for everyone's kind support, words and gifts.

So look around, enjoy. There are a list of labels directly below the pinatas that should help you to navigate around. We hope you enjoy it, lots of love... Emma & Brian Drury

A Post Card from Park Central

This was the amazing view from our hotel in downtown Havana...

It had this fabulous rooftop swimming pool which was always my first port of call after breakfast. No matter how crowded the pool got these mental little birds would be dive bombing the surface with absolute precision in order to wet their beaks. It must have been a game because there were deffo easier ways of getting a drink but no matter how much you thought they were going to ram into you, they'd always just swoop up at the last minute.

It was quite an amazing sight and Emma will vouch for me when i say that i took a LOT of shots of an empty swimming pool before discovering this little action shot amongst the pile...

Our Glastonbury Highlights - Part Five

It's Sunday afternoon, must be time for some proper rawk'n mutha-flipping'roll...

Look out for the children of slash about a minute in doing some fine air guitar...;-)b

Glastonbury Highlights - Part Four

A special choice from Emma - the emotional highlight of Stevie Wonder's excellent sunday night closer (singing happy birthday at the end was a close second) and a true Glasto moment. As one flag flying in the same field a year earlier said so succinctly... R.I.P Wako...;-)

A Post Card from La Habana

We have plenty of photos from Cuba which we'll get round to uploading soon, but today i thought we should reflect on one of the most enchanting places we visited during our stay. Plaza de la Catedral (Cathedral Square) was described by our guide book as one of the most romantic settings on the planet and believe me it lived up to such a tall recomendation.

We spent the evening on the balcony of El Patio restaurant overlooking the most authentic and well preserved squares in all of Havana. The 18th Century Cathedral de San Cristobal de la Habana dominates the square, in front of which a folk band serenaded diners while a chaplinesque old man and his lady friend tipped the whole experience into something almost otherworldly with their dancing. On the opposite side from us is a building dating back to 1720, now the Museo de Arte Colonial. In case you're wondering, that's a statue leaning against the pillar and not some creepy guy dressed all in leather as someone in the honeymoon party mistook it for....bless...;-)b

Fortunately Emma had the good sense the capture a moment for prosperity, enjoy:

Newforge House

We just want to take a minute to thank John and all the team at Newforge for helping make our day so special. Gorgeous house, beautiful gardens, amazing food and friendly faces everywhere we went. We couldn't recommend it more and look forward to visiting again soon...;-)

Big Day Out Slide Show

I'll definitely have learnt a lot about various computer applications before we've finished this blog, had a bit of trouble uploading slideshows etc but hopefully there should be three slideshows below when i'm finished. A gigantic, massive thanks to Ann Donelly for taking such brilliant pictures;-)b

The Pinata

Poor old donkey...

Many came...

Many tried...

But if you want the sweets...

You really have to put your back into it...

At least there was plenty of booty to go round...

And someone found a new home...

The Time Travel Disco

So here's some more music. Come with us on a journey through time and space as we travel to various significant years in Emma and my lifetime courtesy of the time travel disco...;-)b

Glastonbury Highlights - Part Three

Dizzie played a cracking set on Friday night, Florence turned up for the encore and the BBC very kindly did a nice video mix of it for us all to enjoy...

The Lanterns of Love

Ann took some fantastic shots of the lanterns of love, including this fine example of young love. Fortunately there would appear to be no pictorial evidence of the one that, ahem, didn't quite clear the field...it seem's likely therefore that I only imagined that particular episode...

Thanks for the fantastic surprise firework display BTW lads...

Emma's Hen - The Movie!

I must get round to getting a few hen photos from Julie... In the meantime here's Emma's now legendary pop video for your enjoyment...

Ann Donnelly's Photos - Sneak Peak!

We were very fortunate to have the extremely talented Ann Donnelly bring her camera with her to the big day. Not only is she now Daisy's new best friend but she somehow managed to capture some amazing shots throughout the day.

Emma came home on Thursday all delighted having seen them for the first time and i can confirm that Ann really is a unique talent with a camera. We'll hopefully get a slideshow up soon but in the meantime here's a few featuring Ann's new best friend in a starring role.

Order of Service

Emma did such a great job of putting these together that it felt like a shame not to add them for prosperity...

Glastonbury Highlights - Part Two

Love is... missing out on Jerry Damer's Spatial AKA Orchestra so your beloved can shake her groove thing with the scissor sisters, in fairness I could hardly say no when it became obvious that her pint sized pop princess hero was going to do a turn... mind you, and not for the first time i might add, she did sit through two alabama 3 sets for me...;-)

The First Dances

So this is a set of music we put together called 'the first dances'. The original plan was that this was going to be the music for the first hour or so at the disco but we kind've all got swept up in the day and by the time the disco lights got going we felt it was late enough to head straight to the TARDIS and then off course on to the legendary dance-off.

It's basically a few songs that hold a particularly special place in our hearts and a few tunes that we thought various family and friends might particularly enjoy. So why not open the player up in another window and enjoy some music while you check out the rest of the album.

Wedding Photos - First Look

Ok so we'll hopefully get plenty more photos sorted and uploaded soon, but for now here's a short set that Emma put together...

Our Glastonbury Highlights - Part One

As most of you will know by now the Glastonbury Festival has a special place in our hearts and has played a not unsignificant part in our courtship. We'd only been dating seriously for a month or so when we rather bravely set off on, what was in retrospect a pretty much make or break 5 days in a muddy field with 200,000 odd neighbours and very limited showering facilities.

Fortunately, it was the making of us and the following year we returned to exchange vows of commitment with 300 other couples in a mass pagan handfasting ceremoney. It made sense that we should complete the hat-trick this year and return to Pilton for the last leg of our honeymoon.

As there is so much coverage available on you tube, we thought we would spice up this blog with some of our own personal highlights from this years festival. I'm not sure if anything will ever match that first year's sunday night double header of Leonard Cohen and the Verve for both of us but there were plenty of special moments again this year.

My personal highlight was probably Ray Davies on Sunday afternoon who, with the help of a choir and a back catelogue of Kinks classics lead us all in a modest celebration of English life and pride just as the blazzing sun was cooling for the first time all weekend and news of the weekend's big football score drifted through the field...

The Speeches

Ok so for those of you that may have missed them (Mark!), been too emotional to fully take them in at the time (Mrs Drury), been too busy making your own interjections (pretty much everybody) or for those of you with too much time on your hands...we give you a recording of the traditional wedding speeches.

We had hoped to also have a recording of the actual service to share with you and treasure ourselves over our forthcoming lifetime of happiness together but unfortunately someone forget to press record. Ordinarily I wouldn't be one to cast blame in such a public manner but seeing as how my mother in law's favorite thing about our wedding was 'the other brian' it would appear that i have some serious competition on my hands for her affections!! All i will say therefore is that at least whomever was in charge of recording did manage to press the button in time for the second half of my father in laws excellent and very touching speech...

First Things First - A Very Big Thank You

Hi and welcome to our wedding album / blog. We hope that you enjoy it and that you can navigate your way around it ok. Over the next few weeks we'll be adding things to it and please feel free to post your own pictures or thoughts.

Like every newlywed couple we wanted to make a wedding album to treasure over the years, but we also thought that it would be nice to put something together online to share with all our friends and family, particularly for those who couldn't join us on the day. It was a small affair but we have received so many kind words, wishes, great support and not to mention fabulous gifts from far and wide. We hope that in some small this site way will help to express our gratitude to you all.

If you're reading this then chances are that you'll have received a more personal note of thanks by now, there are so many people to thank but we particularly wanted to say thanks again to Ken and June for hosting the day, Sam and Ann for keeping us all refreshed and to all four of them for helping to make our dream holiday of a lifetime honeymoon a reality.

We hope you enjoy our album, if anyone would like a copy of specific photo(s) or music etc then let us know and we'll be happy to send them to you.

Lots of love,

Emma & Brian
